40k FAQ Update

#1  Postby valistar » Fri Jan 14, 2011 2:19 pm

I don't have a lot of time but the FAQ's have been updated, if they have a 1.0, or better it's been updated. Usually not that important but there are point changes, stat changes, (cyclone's firing twice in DA)..

I just started digesting these. Personally, awesome on the DA missile launchers! My Disciples of Caliban Deathwing will be very happy. Shaggai is keeper of all things Power Armoured. I'm certain these will get updated in the near future, where required.

Both Dark Angels and Black Templars have had their Whirlwind, Cyclone, and Tempest missile launchers updated to match the main SM codex, which is great. Even better though is that their Storm Shields have been updated to match. 3+ Invulnerable saves all round!

My Dark Angels might actually get taken out of storage now 8)

I see Grav-talons are fully clarified though - still doesn't clearly they can't be taken with Caltrops, so there's still a vague chance you could take both on a single Reaver and have the benefits of both the better profile of the Caltrops plus adding Pinning ...

Space Wolves: TW Mount adjusts base strength. So S 5/10 w/Power Fist or Thunder Hammer.

I find it interesting that they have released some quite comprehensive FAQs and just in time for the 2011 Tourney season. I would expect updates on the rest as well. It would be nice if the made the Night Spinner an Addendum. Probably not the Inquisition though. I see Codex: Grey Knights is confirmed. I wonder two things:

1) Will this officially replace Daemonhunters?

2) Will they then do a WD update to Witch Hunters that will officially replace Witch Hunters?

Yep. They suggested as much when they put the Ordo PDFs up.

Unlikely, the PDF already has the allies rules removed so they'll likely assume everyone will use that for the time being.

DE FAQ is now 1.0a (no change to the FAQ page on the GW site, but if you download the file it has changed), the Q&A near the end about a Haemonculus with two Animus Vitae has been removed, probably because it's not possible to take two with it being a "one per army" item and so that Q&A contradicted the codex.

Why don't they man up and answer the question: Can Hammies take duplicates?

What are we supposed to do, load all of the FAQs every day to see if there was a ghost change?

The Animus Vitae has a * in the wargear list, so it's one per army - so there's no way a Hammie could take a duplicate of this as per the codex :) But yes, for the others which are not unique to the army it would help if there was an answer.
